"We live in a cruel world" ENGLISH VERSION

We live in a cruel world, but the world didn’t make us that way. As the years go by, we have continued to become cruel people. Not all human beings are cruel, but there is a vast majority who are, and such racist people should not exist. Don't get me wrong, it's not that they shouldn't exist, but how is it possible that there is so much violence in this world?

I'm going to talk about George Floyd, a black and American man. Forget the labels, he was a human being just like you and me who was killed by the police in the American nation. What did he do that made him deserve something like this? Absolutely nothing. George was unarmed, all he was trying to do was shop at the grocery store and ended up dead, unable to breathe because a police officer pressed his knee against Floyd's neck.

White privilege is something that should not exist, but unfortunately it still exists. It happens every day and we have to recognize it. The truth is that if a white man commits the same crime as an African American, they are most unlikely to receive the same consequences. The black community is treated as a minority and it shouldn't be that way but sadly it has become an unacceptable reality. How many black citizens have been killed by the police? Too many. There is no excuse for police violence. In 2019 there were only 27 days where the police did not kill people and most of those were African American citizens. Black people were 24% of those killed despite being only 13% of the population. How is this possible?

George Floyd is another person added to the extremely long list of African Americans who have died because of the police. Say their names: Oscar Grant, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, Stephon Clark, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Trayvon Martin, Ahmaud Arbery, Clementa Pinckney, Cynthia Hurs, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lance, Tywanza Sanders, Daniel Simmons, Sharonda Coleman, Myra Thompson, Walter Scott, Eric Harris, Tony Robinson, Rumain Brisbon, Laquan McDonald, and Michael Brown Jr. We need these people to get their justice. But before that, we have to work together to avoid future situations of police violence against minorities. This has to stop now! We need to create a future where the next generation lives with less violence around them.

Even if I don't identify as black, every time I see or hear on the news that another African-American person has been killed by the police, it breaks my heart. Not all police are like this but we need to raise awareness about racism and we must educate this generation and the next to be more careful with the accusations they make. The fear of the black community that has been created can be changed by educating more people on the subject because this type of violence against the minority cannot continue. Together, regardless of skin color or race, we can change the world to one where every human being is treated equally.
